This project started back in 2008 with a yearning to learn more about what people thought about guys who knit.  I spoke with a number of friends as well as local knitters and quickly learned people believe that men who knit, crochet, weave or otherwise explore the fiber arts are somehow treated differently than their female counterparts.  Years of thought has been put into the project and the conclusion is simple: it doesn't matter if the fiber artist is male or female... we all have the ability to craft, create, explore and learn.  After doing some research I wanted to know more about the different men I had heard about as well as create a place online to collect information about this sometimes overlooked part of the culture.  That interest is what led to the creation of the Fiberguys profiles; showcasing some of the amazingly talented men knitting, crocheting, weaving and spinning in the United States.
